About
AGO was not founded on a certain year but organically evolved to a framework of methods and processes through a series of collaborations and projects. We are an architecture and design office based in Berlin. Taneli Mansikkamäki, born in Helsinki 1981 is a Finnish architect, Director of AGO and Master of Experimental Unit 12 at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Taneli’s work is based on architectural forms addressing the minimum partition and the importance of context, resources and renewables in construction. His interest towards tackling the changing environment is reflected by the home country Finland’s landscape and forests but also the country’s rapid advancement in technology, mobility and equality.
He worked in tech and new media before moving to London to study at the Architectural Association where he graduated in 2011 with a thesis Towards an Ideal Plan, proposing co-housing scheme with alternative models of ownership and space economics.
Mansikkamäki’s work has been published widely in magazines, AMC Architecture, Finnish Architectural Review, Detail, Dezeen, Divisare, Frame magazine, Grand Designs, Helsingin Sanomat, WIRE magazine etc.
His clients include private individuals, companies, institutions and brands such as Stella McCartney. Artists and designers such as Laure Prouvost and Klaus Haapaniemi. He has collaborated with offices Future Systems and Cecil Balmond and taught at University of Cambridge, The Oslo School of Architecture and Design and Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart and South East University in Nanjing.
Depending on the scale of projects AGO works collectively with other architects.
